Blue Fluorite in the Tarot

Using the “Genius Stone” with The Wild Unknown Deck

Blue Fluorite is our crystal of the week here in the Crystal Inner Circle! So, here in the Crystal & The Tarot Community we are going to discuss where to find Blue Fluorite in the Tarot. We’ll talk about the cards it’s connected to as well as the healing benefits this beautiful stone can offer.

First, let’s discuss the history and physical/metaphysical healing properties of Blue Fluorite.

History of Blue Fluorite

Fluorite gets its name from the Latin word fluo, which means a flow of water. The verb form “to flow” is fluor or fluere.  Originally, fluorite was known as fluorspar. Industrial fluorite is still called fluorspar today.

In ancient times, many believed that Fluorspar was actually crystallized light that could help one achieve enlightenment by absorbing light into the brain. They also called it the “home of the rainbow” because of its wide array of colors.

To the ancient  Chinese, purple Fluorite offered protection from evil spirits, and its clusters were considered to be “dream makers.” Green Fluorite was sometimes used as a substitute for Jade.

The Romans believed drinking from a vessel made of Fluorite, like Amethyst, would prevent a person from becoming intoxicated.

Ancient Egyptians used Fluorite to carve scarabs and statues of their gods.

The Romans, Celts, Britons, French, Germans, American Indians and others all prized the beauty of Fluorite, carving it into figurines, deity statues, art, totems, amulets and talismans, as well as decorative bowls, cups, dishes and vases.

Hydrofluoric acid formed from Fluorite has been used for etching glass since 1670. In the 1700’s it was diluted with water to a near infinitesimal degree and used for matters of health.

Physical Properties of Blue Fluorite

Fluorite is used in manufacturing opalescent glass, enamels, cooking utensils, and hydrofluoric acid.Sometimes, it is used instead of glass in some high-performance telescopes and camera lenses. It is also a flux in the manufacture of steel.

Blue Fluorite with The Wild Unknown Tarot

As you may know, certain Angels are connected to each tarot card. Here, we look at the Angels that prefer Blue Fluorite and their connected tarot card (The Rider-Waite-Smith Deck is used for reference.) Then, we shall find a shared connection with The Wild Unknown Tarot.

Also, we shall look at the characteristics of Blue Fluorite and decide which cards share a connection with this stone.

If you are looking to connect to one of the below cards (or the Angel associated with it), placing a Blue Fluorite on top of it and then meditating, or using it during a reading, can be very beneficial.

In italics are my opinions on the connections between Blue Fluorite and the mentioned tarot card.

The Hermit

Hamaliel is the Master of the 9th Rider-Waite-Smith(RWS) tarot card, The Hermit. The Hermit has mirrored symbolism in The Wild Unknown Tarot.

The Hermit indicates that through meditation, solitude, and stillness, wisdom is found.

When you see this card in a reading, it’s time to take a step back from the business of day-to-day life and focus on your inner realm.

Help yourself become more self-aware. If you are considering meditating, this card is a good sign that you should start now.

I believe the connection between Blue Fluorite and The Hermit is an ideal one. The Hermit encourages self-awareness and meditation. Blue Fluorite assists in clearing mental fog, confusion, and conflicting ideas. Spending time alone to reflect and meditate, like The Hermit implies one to do and Blue Fluorite assists in, helps one to clear the mind and focus.

The Tower

Zamael is the Master of 16th RWS tarot card, The Tower. The Tower is similarly portrayed in The Wild Unknown Tarot.

When The Tower appears, it’s time to brace yourself for a change. Here we see that there are forces of upheaval which can unexpectedly strike even the strongest of us. Your world may feel like it’s literally falling apart and you didn’t see it coming.

Even though this phase is painful and confusing, usually there is a universal intelligence working to make space for something brighter and new in your life. You will look back and be grateful things changed course. This may even be interpreted as a “personal breakthrough” in the long run.

Blue Fluorite is an excellent crystal to use during  life-changing moments such as these. It helps keep one calm and focused during chaotic times. It also opens one up to communication if you need help finding answers or just need to share with someone.

Ace of Swords

Ace of Swords is an ideal card to use with Blue Fluorite. If one sees this card in a reading, Blue Fluorite can help one in perpetuating the Ace of Sword’s intentions.

In a reading, this card is symbolic of mental clarity and truth. Your mind will become clear, your thoughts precise. The Ace of Swords contains the potential for cleverness, cunning, deceit, understanding, comprehension and more.

The Ace of Swords can speak of new ideas, fresh perspectives, and the potentials of the mental realm. This card can show times of clarity bursts which seem to be graspable, but are often fleeting. It can also be a card of undisguised honesty.

Blue Fluorite is a stone of mental clarity and focus, the perfect complement to the Ace of Swords. This stone is going to help dissolve confusion and bring repressed feelings to the surface, whether it be for worse or better. The truth is not always easy to confront, but Blue Fluorite helps one to “think through” one’s feelings when overwhelmed and work through fears one may have calmly and rationally.

Two of Wands

When you see the Two of Wands in a card reading, it means that you are on your way to success. It is significant of determination and direction. You’ve focused on a goal and are boldly pointing all efforts in that direction.

Take this time to become aware of your thought patterns, specifically towards yourself. What is the quality and tone of your thoughts? Are they positive or negative? What waits for you off the beaten trail? Are you ready to embark on your unique path, even when it holds struggles and dangers?

This card shows the moments when we realize our own ability to direct our energy, to shape our lives. We are all creators, this card reminds us of our ability to harness our power and make bold moves. Don’t allow yourself to get overwhelmed with the endless possibilities. The “Great Unknown” is navigable with determination, confidence, and focus!

Blue Fluorite will help one focus on one’s goals and possibilities. This stone will allow a coherent pattern to emerge that dissolves confusion, vacillation, fear of the future, or of making a wrong decision.
